About Me

Welcome to my website, I'm glad you are here! If you are considering individual or family counseling, you probably want to get an idea of what I am all about. I'll start by telling you a little bit about my educational and professional background, as well as my treatment philosophy.

First of all, I am a Cary native (one of the few and proud!) and grew up literally just a few miles from my current office. I attended North Carolina State University where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and participated in the Child Welfare Collaborative program. After graduation, I started working for Child Protective Services in various counties throughout central North Carolina.

I completed my Master's Degree in Social Work at the joint MSW program through North Carolina A&T University/UNC-Greensboro, graduating in 2008. During my Master's program, I interned at UNC Child Psychiatry (Program on Childhood Trauma and Maltreatment). I ended my 10 year career with Child Protective Services in 2015, transitioning to my current work as an individual child and family therapist.

My expertise is in the treatment of mood disorders, trauma (including developmental trauma), perinatal mood disorders, and issues pertaining to obesity - including pre and post operative support for bariatric surgery.

I additionally identify as a LGBTQIA+ ally, and have wide range professional experience serving this community including those in gender transition (adolescents, teens and adults). I am included in the LGBT Center of Raleigh's list of HealthWorks Mental Health Team-approved clinicians. This list and other resources can be included here: https://www.lgbtcenterofraleigh.com/resources/mental-health-resources.html
